Forests and Wood Under-graduate 'Engineer' Course

Forestry
Students learn the practical knowledge and skills necessary to manage forest areas.

Environment
Students learn the practical knowledge and skills necessary for fostering individuals and community concern and action regarding the environment.

Wood and Architecture
Students learn the architectural skills needed to make wooden houses, using locally obtained timbers.

■ Objective
The objective of this course is to produce technically competent professionals equipped with the necessary practical skills and broad knowledge to work in the forestry industry, architecture, and in environmental education.

■ Applicant Eligibility
Applicants should either have graduated from high school, be due to graduate, or have an equivalent level of professional experience.

■ Course Length
2 years

■ Enrollment Limit
20 students

■ Special Characteristics of the Curriculum
 ・Emphasis on Fundamental Education
  Students take intensive classes in foundation subjects as well as introductory specialist subjects.
 ・Broad Areas of Learning
  From the second semester of the first year, students are streamed into major areas of study, however students are able to take subjects from other courses and obtain a broad range of skills.
 ・Internship
  The Academy has a work-experience program designed for students to obtain practical experience in their specialist fields or at a company that they would like to work for in the future. This program enables students to evaluate their career options and their suitability to a particular occupation.

*Upon completion of the Engineering Course, graduates wanting to enter a four-year undergraduate university program are able to do so at the third year level.
